Apple and Google are in AI Partnership Talks

Meanwhile, xAI opens up Grok and Reddit gains IPO momentum

Is that even allowed? Big Tech normally can’t buy a latte without EU regulators getting involved. Now, Tim and Sundar are sharing a California Cab (1992 Screaming Eagle) talking AI partnerships? Someone make it make sense. Meanwhile, xAI opens up their Grok model and Reddit gains IPO momentum.

Exclusive: Reddit's IPO as much as five times oversubscribed, sources say

“While the oversubscription does not guarantee a strong performance in the stock market debut, it means the company is poised to at least reach its targeted price range of $31 to $34 per share when it prices the IPO in New York on Wednesday, the sources said.”

NEXT MONTH: Demo Day Is Back With SeedChecks

Demo Day is back--and this time we're partnering with SeedChecks to make it even bigger! Click here to RSVP to the live event.

SeedChecks was built by our friend Julian Shapiro as a one stop shop for founders to get in front of some of the biggest names in venture. It’s an impressive group and we’re excited to bring our Live Demo Day format to their ecosystem. Here’s how it works:

When you submit two things happen:

  • First, you’ll have your deck reviewed by the SeedChecks team as well as their incredible group of investors. The group of over 15 active investors write checks between $300k and $3M.

  • Second, if it’s a fit for Demo Day, we will reach out directly to invite you to present live.

We will select 4 founders to present live in front of the combined audiences of Sandhill and SeedChecks!

Finally, tune in live on Thursday, April 11th at 3PM ET to watch these four exciting founders present what they're building to a panel of experienced investors and seasoned operators. Our amazing panelists:

ICYMI: State of LATAM Startup Ecosystem

If you’re not thinking about LATAM, you should be. Money flowed in fast in 2021 and left just as fast, but the ecosystem has continue to push forward and the opportunities have only gotten more exciting.

We were joined by two Tier-1 backed operators and a Midas List investor. They explained the difference between LATAM and other emerging markets, pros and cons of building/investing there, and the idea of “leapfrogging” in tech.

Check out the recording on Twitter here or on LinkedIn here.

Thank you again to our friends at Sacra for helping us bring it together!

The fight for AGI will be tweeted (sarcastically)…

Letters From The Editor

Misc. (short for miscellaneous)

AI Things (tiring)

The Apple / Google partnership is lame. They have both been bumbling around AI and now they’re going to try to run the Microsoft partnership playbook multiple years into the race? Disappointing.

“Our AI stuff isn’t really working out.” - Tim

“Neither is ours.” - Sundar

“Should we team up now to make sure Satya doesn’t win?” - Tim

“Probably.” - Sundar

The worst part is that they’re still in a great position to win and will print ungodly amounts of profits along the way. AI on your iPhone will be a big moment. Google continues to be the homepage of the internet.

It would be a lot nicer if they were actually leaders here and they didn’t have to rub their monopolies in everyone’s face.

Meanwhile, Elon and Sam are paying their social media teams to tweet sarcastically at each other.

Only one answer remains: Zuck for president.

Also more seriously - I think I’m becoming more and more of an open source AI proponent. Partly because Zuck is into it and he seems pretty smart. Partly because I don’t want any megacorp to control AGI.

Talk soon,
Adam
