[Live Now] YC Launches First Ever Fall Batch
Yesterday YC announced the first ever Fall batch! Details and a live discussion with Walter Chen from Sacra.
Pretty pretty pretty busy week! Going to jump on live with my smart startup friend Walter Chen - who you might know as the Founder/CEO of Sacra (the private market research company) - to talk through a few of these headlines. We’re live right now and you can tune in on Twitter here, LinkedIn here, or on the Sandhill site here. Some commentary below as well as links to relevant stories and more exclusive Sandhill content!

YC announced their first ever Fall batch. They wrote an announcement post that went out yesterday with some answer to key questions you can check out (linked below). Most notably they said:
Why is YC doing a fall batch?
The opportunity for new startups is only growing, especially given the latest results we are seeing from the most recent YC batches where in aggregate companies are growing revenue by 4X or more in a single quarter during the YC batch itself.
The group partners got together and agreed it was time to grow the pie and do our first-ever Fall batch.
Application are open until the end of August and the demo day will be in December. From there they will get back on their Summer / Winter schedule with W25 coming down the pipe shortly after this Fall batch. They also note though that they may do more batches generally and allude to another announcement later this year.
A lot to talk about here - which is why we’re live now on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Sandhill - but generally these seems to line up with the current AI moment everyone is experiencing. Tech is moving fast and businesses are ready to buy (see their 4x rev note). YC - and the companies that want to start immediately - wants to make sure it doesn’t miss the moment.
Below are links on everything we’ll look to discuss. We’re live right now and you can tune in on Twitter here, LinkedIn here, or on the Sandhill site here.
YC Fall Batch Announcement - Makes sense.
Groq new round - Nice markup for Sandhill Syndicate.
OpenAI Leadership changes - Doesn’t seem healthy.
Revoult Secondary sale - Big step up from secondary data I see.
Josh Kushner and Thrive’s new fund - Generally impressive.
